SAKURAGI HANAMICHI

The main character of Slam Dunk and power forward of the Shohoku basketball team, he proclaims himself the
"super genius" of basketball. He was a bad student before, but after falling in love with a girl, he decides
to join the basketball team to impress her. Gifted with natural athletic skill, Sakuragi can jump very high,
making him a powerful rebounder for the team. 50 girls in junior high rejected him, so he hopes by becoming a
basketball star his streak will finally be broken! Sakuragi wears jersey number 10.

RUKAWA KAEDE

Nicknamed the "fox" and small forward of the Shohoku basketball team, Rukawa is the essential bishounen of the Slam Dunk series. Silent, brooding, mysterious, and cold, he drives the ladies wild. Sporting bangs and an untouchable attitude, Rukawa cares only for basketball and snoozing in class, and is indifferent to the girls that follow him around school. One of the very best players in the nation, he is total package when it comes to basketball skills, and dreams of playing professionally in America. He is both Sakuragi's friend and enemy, given the situation. He sports jersey number 11.

AKAGI TAKENORI

Big, mean, and nasty, Akagi is nicknamed the "gorilla" because he looks like one, has a mean looking dunk called the gorilla dunk, and also for his gorilla punch (usually on Sakuragi). He is the captain of the team and the tallest member,
making him of course, the center. He also happens to be the older brother of the girl Sakuragi is in love with, so his relationship with the red haired "genius" can be very hilarious at times. This big guy wears jersey number 4.

MIYAGI RYOTA

The shortest, but quickest member of the Shohoku team, this gifted player is the point guard. His teammates call him "Ryouchi" and he is the most outgoing of the group. He and Sakuragi have similar personalities - even to the point of joining the team to impress girls! Usually seen wearing cool clothes and sunglasses, Miyagi is a definite fan favorite. He wears number 7.

MITSUI HISASHI

|
The shooting guard and the team expert in three-point shots, Mitsui used to be a bad boy until he started playing ball. Now, he has dedicated his time to learn the game and play to the best of his ability, but he seems to harbor a grudge against Ryota. He wears number 14.
