MAKOTO SHISHIO

Kenshin's successor as Hitokiri, Shishio was lethal swordsman who took great pleasure from killing. He was betrayed by his own government who tried to assassinate him by shooting and burning him. However, he survived the ordeal and now plots to take over the government and bathe the country in purging fires. He leads the Juppongatana.

YUMI KOMAGATA

Shishio's lover, Yumi joined the Juppongatana because she disliked the new government's unfair policy against women. She loves and respects him deeply and would do anything for him, including the ultimate sacrifice.

HOUJI SADOJIMA |
The tactical advisor of the Juppongatana and Shishio's right-hand man, Houji follows Shishio like a religious fanatic. He wants to see his leader succeed so badly that he would even go against Shishio's own orders to achieve his goals.

SOUJIROU SETA

Because of his tragic childhood, Soujirou is an excellent swordsman who shows no emotion at all - even when taking lives he always has a smile on his face. His incredible speed and genius ability with the sword make him into an extremely deadly killing machine. However, after meeting Kenshin, he isn't so sure about his motto: "The strong survive. The weak must die."

Blinded by Shishio during the Bakumatsu, Usui joined the Juppongatana just for any opportunity to get his revenge for the loss of his eyesight. He developed an ability to hear the most minute sounds, which gives him an indication of an opponent's mental and physical state.

ANJI YUUKYUUZAN

Anji once was a Buddhist monk living in peace with a family of orphans. However, he lost his faith after a terrible tragedy and joined the Juppongatana to seek reparation from the government. But he still does not like to see life wasted and refrains from useless killing. He uses the "Futae no Kiwami," a poweful punch capable of reducing solid stone to dust.

CHOU SAWAGEJOU |

A native of the Kyoto area, Chou's hobby is collecting swords, even if it means killing its previous owner to obtain one. He uses a special sword wrapped around his waist that is easy to manuever even at long distances. He and Sano get into many fighting contests.

KAMATARI HONJOU
|
|
Kamatari is armed with a deadly giant sickle with an attached iron ball. A rival to Yumi for Shishio's affections, Kamatari is torn between his natural male side and the female side he longs to be. He finds his match in Kaoru and Misao.

HEN'YA KARIWA |
Scrawny and small, Hen'ya uses his light weight to an advantage, taking to the air with his bat-like costume and dropping bombs from above. From the air, he almost always has the upper hand - unless someone can attack from above him.

IWANBOU

|
Iwanbou is a gigantic idiot whose sheer size and girth is his weapon. Attacks simply bounce harmlessly off his fat. However, his stupidity is his weakness and he is rather useless with no one to guide him. When in trouble, he rolls into a ball and bounces away.

SAIZUCHI |
Blessed with a huge brain, the shriveled old Saizuchi enjoys commanding the giant Fuji and cackling at his own cleverness while he watches on the sidelines. He does not fight, besides goading Fuji on and talking big.

FUJI

|
Although he initially looks like a monster with a skeletal helmet and plated armor, Fuji is a true warrior misunderstood all his life. He is often with Saizuchi, who found him when he was beaten and raised him. He finally finds a kindred spirit in Hiko Seijurou and fights as a man for the first time.
