HAJIME SAITOU

Once the a captain in the Shinsengumi, Kenshin's greatest rivals during the Bakumatsu era, Saitou has now become a police officer and continues to bring deadly justice as he sees fit. He lives by his motto, "Aku. Soku. Zan." (Kill evil instantly) He isn't exactly Kenshin's "friend," but he fights alongside him against the greater evil.

SEIJUROU HIKO

Kenshin's master and the 13th inheritor of the Hiten Mitsuruugi Ryu, Seijurou Hiko has become a sculptor and lives as a hermit. He ego is only matched by his skill with the sword, and he carries both proudly. After some persuading, he teaches Kenshin the succession technique of Hiten Mitsuruugi Ryu and later helps defend the Aoiya from attack.

SEIKU ARAI

Seiku is the peaceful son of Shakku Arai, the famous swordmaker during the Bakumatsu. Seiku is threatened by Chou, a member of the Juppongatana, for the location of the last sword cast by his father. Seiku ends up giving the sword to Kenshin.
