Follow Ash Ketchum in his adventures as he seeks to become the best Pokémon trainer in the world! This ultra-popular anime was first derived from the video game, and has now been made into a manga series as well! Pokémon has become an international phenomenon with no signs of slowing down - the anime is still running after two successful seasons, the video game continually comes out with new strategies and Pokémon, and the manga is developing its own healthy following! Pokémon, or "pocket monsters," are fantastic lovable creatures that now number over 250 and are each a unique species. Many evolve into more powerful forms, often discarding their cuteness for strength. Some are always elusive and a Pokémon trainer must go through many tasks before capturing one. 10-year-old Ash is just one of many aspiring Pokémon trainers, and his journey has just begun! He receives Pikachu, an electric Pokémon, as his first. Although their initial meeting is a bit of a shock to Ash, they begin a caring friendship and are rarely seen without the other. As Ash continues on his road to becoming the greatest Pokémon trainer, he and Pikachu run into other competitive trainers, sneaky enemies, and more of those mischievious, beloved creatures the entire world now knows of - Pokémon!
