THE FACTS 1 movie Genres: Action Warnings: Violence, adult situations. Not for children! Comments: A wrenching love story disguised as dark, grim action anime. Very bloody and violent, with unique characters. This slick and violent movie may turn off some viewers, but for fans of the genre, this is absolutely a must-have. Smooth animation, wicked character designs, innovative fight scenes, and a simple but effective story make Ninja Scroll a good time. Set in feudal Japan, it is still a time of the Shogun, ninjas, and samurai. Power is gained through pure strength and bloodshed. Enter Jubei, a wandering swordsman who is haunted by his past (like any good male character). He is caught up in a battle between two clans, and learns that an old enemy is still alive. Do not dismiss Ninja Scroll as merely another action anime with no substance. The characters are developed and the relationship between Jubei and Kagero, a mysterious female ninja, is very touching and integral to the plot.
