Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind    Hundreds of years into the future, the world has been devastated by the "Seven Days of Fire," and people struggle to live in their environmentally-corrupt world. Nausicaa, princess of the Valley of the Wind, is much beloved by her people and nature alike. She is a peace-loving, gentle soul, and spends much of her time soaring in the sky or in the "Sea of Corruption," an enormous forest that expels extremely toxic air. There she learns more about the nature and origin of the forest, as well as the kings of the forest, the giant insectoid "Ohmu." However, as the surviving nations begin to squabble for power and unearth ancient dangerous artifacts, it is up to Nausicaa to prevent further destruction of her fragile world with her mysterious affinity with the giant bugs of the forest. The stunning revelation of the forest's reason for existence, as well as the discovery of another world beyond the Sea of Corruption, brings Nausicaa to her long-awaited destiny. One of Studio Ghibli's first and most masterful films, Nausicaa explores themes of humanity, its war with nature, and the repercussions of environmental pollution.

A horribly edited English version of Nausicaa was released in the early 80s, but Disney plans a second uncut release in the near future. There is also a 7-volume manga by director Hayao Miyazaki from which the movie was derived.

Nurse Angel Ririka SOS    Ririka Moriya is your typical "magical girl" heroine - she's energetic, cute, and known to be clumsy. Her life is changed dramatically when the handsome transfer student, Nozomu Kanou, appears at her school. They become good friends (and of course she gets a crush on him) and on her birthday, he gives her a mysterious nurse's cap. He confesses that he is actually an alien searching for the fabled "flower of life," which is the key in saving his home planet of Queen Earth. He requests Ririka's help to defend against the evil Dark Joker, a group of black magicians set on destroying everything.
