Legend of Galactic Heroes A long struggle continues between the two superpowers of the galaxy - that between the Galactic Empire, led by Reinhard von Lohengramm and the Free Planets Alliance, led by Yang Wen-Li. Each has their own agenda; Reinhard, to rule the universe and free his sister from the Emperor, and Wen-Li, to simply end the destructive war that is destroying everything and resolving nothing. Unlike many futuristic space-based anime, Legend of the Galactic Heroes depends more on its complex weave of human relationships than on big explosions and clichéd battle suits. LoGH combines it's galactic battles with more common human conflicts on Earth to make a fascinating show. LoGH is based on a series of Japanese science fiction novels which were published in Japan between 1982 and 1987. It ran for four seasons.
