Generator Gawl    “Sent from the future to save mankind from a nightmarish holocaust, three young men must blend into our society and uncover the dangerous machinations of a group of sinister scientists. Unfortunately for Koji, Ryou and Gawl, their apparent youth leaves them with no option but to pretend to be foreign exchange students at the local high school. Their cover almost immediately begins to wear thin when the daughter of the boarding house where they're staying begins to suspect Gawl of being up to no good. In truth, Gawl is the ultimate weapon against evil, a bio-enhanced "generator" capable of shifting into an awesome inhuman form of unbelievable power. However, even Gawl's incredible abilities may not be enough, for the scientists have their own army of monstrous generators! The action is non-stop as Gawl and his teammates wage a deadly secret war with the fate of the Earth as the prize in Generator Gawl!” (ADVFilms)

Generator Gawl is a very recent anime, running 26 episodes. ADV will soon be releasing it. For more information, please visit their site:

Ghost Sweeper Mikami    In Tokyo, more buildings than ever are being built for the ever-growing population. So what’s a ghost to do? They get even by causing havoc and dangers all through the city. Out of this mess comes a new occupation - professional exorcists called Ghost Sweepers. One of the best (and most expensive) is the Ghost Sweeper Mikami, a young woman with top-notch spiritual powers that aid her in her duties. She has a couple assistants besides this psychic ability: Yokoshima Tadao, a teenage letch with a dream to see Mikami in her birthday suit, and the kindly 300-year old ghost, Okinu-chan. The series focuses on Mikami’s unique captures and introduces gradually many more characters.

GS Mikami ran for 45 episodes on Japanese TV. For more information:

Grappler Baki    Baki Hanma is a generally happy student with a rather odd hobby; he likes fighting. Specifically, he likes fighting in a secret martial arts tournament that gathers the greatest fighters of the world and pits them against each other in really nasty combat. Whether you're a sumo wrestler, a karate expert, or a guy who specializes in ripping out your opponent's nerves, you're welcome. Baki may be the youngest fighter the tournament has ever seen, but he's also the best, and he really enjoys what he does. The story starts off with Baki entering a regular Karate tournament and taking it by storm. He then moves on to the real challenge - an underground tournament to determine the world's best figher. Baki's pretty confident, but then again, he's never taken on somebody who can blind or paralyze an opponent using just one finger...

Grave of the Fireflies    It is the end of the second World War in Japan, and in a dirty train station, a young boy breathes his last. From his hand falls a tarnished empty candy tin. Soon, the spirit of the boy and his little sister appears, and we follow them on their journey through their last days. Seita and Setsuko, orphans of the war, struggled with a makeshift home in a bomb shelter, desperately trying to hold onto their childhood with barely enough to live on. They live day by day, taking delight in small wonders like the fireflies that ligthen up their nights - briefly and in shining seconds. Grave of the Fireflies is another Studio Ghibli masterpiece - a solemn, heart-wrenching look at the effects of war on family and childhood, and a tragic story of innocence attempting to survive in a selfish world.

Grave of the Fireflies is a motion picture based on Akiyuki Nosaka's semi-autobiographical novel, "Hotaru no Haka."

Gravitation    Energetic Shindou Shuichi is determined to become a singer. With his talent and onstage presence, he is soon scouted by a record company and becomes the lead singer for Bad Luck. Parallel to his growing fame is his developing relationship with the famous, reclusive writer, Yuki Eiri. Despite obstacles, objections, and secrets from the past that keep cropping up, Shuichi just doesn't give up - whether it's in music or love. (Note: This series features homosexuality.)

Gravitation is an exciting, unconventional 13-part OAV series. For more information:

GTO    22-year-old Eikichi Onizuka, former bike gang member and street punk, has harbored one unlikely dream: to become a great teacher! Of course, his intentions aren't exactly pure - he looks forward to ogling his young female students as much as teaching them. But when he becomes the homeroom teacher to the most rebellious, disruptive class in the school, Onizuka proves he can fight just as dirty to gain the respect of his students, in the most unconventional ways. The series is more suited to older audiences, with its lecherous main character and suggestive scenes, and the art is adequate (but only just) to carry along the wild storylines. Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) is a fun, but unique mix of school drama and racy humor, with intriguing, realistic characters, and surprises in every episode.

GTO is an ongoing manga that spawned an anime series as well as a very popular Japanese drama. For more information:
