The Suzaku represent Konan Country to the south, represented by the flaming phoenix deity named Suzaku. He has one Miko, or priestess, who herself has seven Seishi, or warriors. Each warrior has a mark on their body, in the shape of a Chinese character. Real names and locations of marks are given in italics.

MIAKA YUUKI

Compassionate, unselfish, and a little ditzy, 15-year-old Miaka becomes Suzaku no Miko after stumbling upon the Book of the Four Gods. She has a close relationship with Yui, her best friend, but her world is changed after meeting Tamahome, one of her Seishi. She has a bottomless stomach and is always bumping into something, but her honesty and caring endear her to everyone she meets.
