Based on the manga by Akira Toriyama, the Dragonball series is one of the most widely known anime series in the world. Running for over 10 years, the comic action-adventure manga has spawned more than 500 television episodes, 10 movies, and two TV specials. The original story revolves around Son Goku, a boy with an incredible past, and his quest for the fabled "Dragon Balls," 7 spheres with the power to grant wishes once collected. The series follows his adventures as he searches for the mysticals orbs and meets an amazing cast of often hilarious friends and powerful enemies. In Dragonball Z, Goku develops his full potential and reaches adulthood. All new enemies from the past and future appear, forcing him to acknowledge his heritage as a Saiya-jin - a race of destructive, bloodthirsty warriors. To defend his home, friends, and family, Goku must defeat these ultimate soldiers in earth-shaking battles that will reach into the afterlife and determine the course of fate itself.

The manga ended after Dragonball Z, but the anime continued with Dragonball GT, which begins when Goku is accidentally wished into becoming a child again. Goku and his friends travel into space to seek the universal Black Star Dragonballs.

Although both the manga and anime have ended already, Dragonball's success continues to grow as more episodes are released in the United States and other countries. Its combination of nonstop action, bizarre humor, and involved storylines has created a huge and deserved fan following throughout the world.
