One of the high-profile "Anime Invasion" TV series to be released domestically here on the WB network, Cardcaptor Sakura is usually found on or near the top of any Anime fan's list. Part of its popularity is due to the fact that it's an adaptation from the manga co-authored by Japan's mega-famous group, CLAMP. Don't label this series as for the younger crowd merely because of the characters (who are mostly 10 years old). Fans of all ages have grown to love Card Captor Sakura for its story and cute animation.
Sakura Kinomoto is a cheerful 3rd grader who stumbles upon a mysterious book called the "Clow" and accidentally unleashes the magic contained within. She then is forced to become the Cardcaptor, embarking on a mission to collect all the Clow Cards to save the world from destruction. Naturally, she meets great friends along the way and encounters the usual bad guys as well. Included in the cast are: Kero, her magical sidekick with a voracious appetite, Tomoyo Daidouji, her best friend who loves capturing Sakura on film, Touya, her older brother, and Li Syaoran, her rival in collecting the powerful cards. With its cool magic spells, Sakura's bottomless wardrobe of costumes, and fun action, it's no surprise that Card Captor Sakura is a hit.
