Although this series was developed as a shoujo series, all the fan boys out there should definitely give this mesmerizing show a chance. Although very heavy on plot and mature content, once you get into the world of Angel Sanctuary, there is no way you will want to get out. As for the mature content, let's just say that you will have to be very open minded about views on religion (God dies?!), or else you won't enjoy this show.
Keeping up with the huge cast of characters, motives, back-stories, and plots can boggle the mind, but once all the threads are sewn, it is ultimately a rewarding experience. There's at least one huge shocker that will leave you breathless from Angel Sanctuary. Speaking of characters, keep in mind that reincarnation is a major theme of the series, so each character can have two or three past lives that are revealed throughout the show, so definitely keep updated or else you will lose track easily. In the dawn of mankind, God created two of the first Angels. Twins, a brother and sister, these Angels had three wings each, making them the most powerful in God's army. Over time, one of the Angels fell in love with God, but it was her brother that God favored. Hurt by God's betrayal, she joined Lucifer, the Angel outcast, in his fight against God. Eventually she lost, and her soul and body were separated. Her punishment was to reincarnate as individuals on Earth and be forced to suffer a gruesome death every time. But in her most present reincarnation, the circle is about to become broken. God has apparently died in Heaven and a power struggle is about to wreak havoc on Heaven, Hell, and Earth. (Hey, I told you this series is intense).
